Shopping List

  • Purchase store brands where possible (Western Family, Lucerne, President's Choice).
  • Purchase items in PLASTIC containers not glass.
  • Don't buy bulk – in plastic bags things look alike & bags puncture.
  • Pack in sturdy boxes – Liquor Control Board box size is easy to manage – LABEL CONTENTS.
  • Purchase amounts specified - or at least the quantity listed

Staples & Other Items

Camp 1 purchases for all 3 camps. Cooks to ensure that no more than 1/3 of the items for all 3 camps be used at their camp.

Meat And Frozen - Store in one cooler

Meat

* Choose ham or salmon loaf

Sausages – turkey or breakfast 40 sausages
* Ham for dinner Precooked no bone (freeze before taking into camp) 8 lbs
Ham Unsliced for breakfasts 2 x 1 kg
Lunch Meat Pre-sliced - buy selection - turkey, chicken, black forest ham, beef, and salami. No Montreal smoked beef or pastrami - doesn't keep 3 kg in vacuum packages to keep it from going bad

Frozen (store in cooler with meat)

Strawberries Buy in plastic bags – boxes leak. Double bag. 3 x 600 g.
Orange juice, unsweetened 6 x 355 ml tins

Dry Goods

Good quality duct tape 2 rolls – each roll 41 m size
Paper towels (buy choose-a-size or adjust-a-size which are smaller sheets) 4 large rolls

Toilet paper 24 large double sized rolls.

Produce

Purchase produce on Thursday or Friday before camp. Don't buy “bagged” produce as usually getting old, not good quality, doesn't keep. Select & count correct amount. Ask the grocer if they will fill the order with fresh produce to be picked up the Thursday before camp.

Bread

Whoever picks up the bread Thursday or Friday before camp calls the store beforehand to confirm the order.

Ordering bread

  • Inform baker that bread MUST be completely cool before bagging to prevent sweating.
  • Request bread be packed in sturdy boxes with lids. Banana boxes work well. Not flats as they are too bulky.
  • If bakery can't do it, box it yourself.
